On behalf of the family of William (Billy) Smith, I would like to inform you of his sudden passing.We extend our condolences to all his family and friends at Forrester Rugby Club, where he will be sadly missed not only as a player and coach, but also for his role in encouraging local children to play rugby.
His drive and enthusiasm to bring rugby to everyone by conducting training sessions in local schools contributed significantly to the growth of Forrester Club's mini section as part of Billy's ten-year plan.

Billy was a true gentleman who had the ability to engage anyone he asked for help, from coaching kids to arranging transport for training sessions and games.His ten-year plan for developing grassroots rugby was ahead of its time.
He served as Director of Rugby and was an ambassador for Forrester Rugby Club.

He received numerous accolades for his hard work in rugby, including recognition from the SRU on several occasions, the Spirit of Rugby Award, and awards from the Scottish Parliament for his efforts.Billy Smith is one of the reasons rugby became part of my life and journey at Forrester Rugby Club.

Many of you will have memories of Billy and the support he provided in your rugby journey; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
