Forrester React 2 Rugby Trust, celebrating its 10th year in providing sport and healthy living to circa 14,000 children in the west of Edinburgh, received a grant of £2,500, from the Bank of Scotland Foundation’s Small Grants Programme. The grant is designed to help the charity deliver their commitment to schoolchildren ranging from Primary 1 to Secondary 6 level through their Community Development Officer (CDO).
Bill Smith, Lead Trustee, said: “Funding a full time CDO is a massive financial commitment for the Trust to undertake. We are partly funded by the Scottish Rugby Union and raising enough cash to continue our aims is always a challenge. This cash injection by the Bank of Scotland Foundation will ensure that we can continue our work until the start of the 2015 summer school term. It is commonly agreed that participation in sport is an ideal way for children to develop individual and team skills and it also leads to children being more community minded. In these days of ‘charity fatigue’ this grant is very welcome”

£5.7m Distributed
Launched in November 2010, the Bank of Scotland Foundation has distributed over £5.7m to charities across Scotland. This funding enables charities to continue to deliver valuable support and make a genuine, tangible difference to the local communities in which they operate.
