'Ton Up as Forrester sweep Lismore aside'

Thanks to Ewan Brodie for the report!

A dry, breezy day for the greenies trip to Lismore on Saturday.
The new Lismore pitch looked in great shape and the boys warm-up displayed a hunger for the action to begin.
Forrester welcomed back John McMillan and Mark Wyper to the pack, where they were joined by Fraser 'Dragon' Newbury - making a swift move forward from centre to flanker - only two more rows to go Dragon!! The back line saw a first appearance of the season for Jordan Kay on the wing.

Forrester started with purpose and their quick start was soon rewarded.
The try came after excellent phase play and a couple of quick taps from Sean Broadfoot saw birthday boy and flying vegetarian Lucas Buxton cross after 4 mins.
Lucas was at it again minutes later. Sean Broodfoot made a great break off a wonderful platform from the pack at scrum time and Lucas cruised in on the outside.
Promising youngster Robbie Douglas has made a fine start to the season and his good form continued following great work from Dave 'the fish' Allan. The experienced prop showing twinkle toes down the touch line and a pop inside for Robbie to finish.
Another baldy performing well was Stewart 'stookie' Fulton and he scored following another great team move.
Forrester were threatening to run riot at this point with Lismore struggling to keep pace with the fast flowing game of the visitors.
Debutant Enoch 'Terry' Terence entered the fray following an injury to Jonny Mac and it was to be an eventful day for the new man.....
Robbie scored again following great work straight from the kick off after backs and forwards interlinked well.
Lismore, who had struggled to find a platform in the game scored a try from nowhere as their pacy 10 spotted a dog leg in the Forries defence on half way and scythed through. Despite Craig 'Himbo' Morrison's best efforts the 10 went in under the posts for a fine solo effort. This will have annoyed the Forrester players who showed excellent defence skills throughout the game.
The next tryscorer was Fraser 'the dragon' Newbury who plopped over the line following a great drive from the forwards at line out time.
Pietro 'PJ' Crolla scored the first of his hat-trick just before half time and the greenies took a well deserved rest after a really good first half.

2nd half

Forrester started the second half as they began the first, showing an expansive brand of rugby that Lismore struggled to contain.
Following excellent driving play from Aidan Beveridge and Mark Wyper, Alan Panther was next to cross the whitewash. The recipient of some great link play with halfback partner Sean Broadfoot down the blind side.
Jordan Kay was next on the scoresheet, finishing another length of the park team try.
New man Terry had so far enjoyed a productive debut, carrying well and letting a few of the lismore boys know that his bus was full. Terry took up a low position to tackle an opponent and somehow, the lismore player ended up airborne. A front flip later and Terry was given a yellow card. Unfortunate for the new man who had shown great hunger and desire on debut.
Himbo was next to score as the greenies continued to wrack up the points.
Graham 'Dudge' Dudgeon (who has shed some 'weight' recently) came on as a sub and scored after yet more great loose play and quick hands from David Allan.
Next, PJ showed another good turn of pace, outstripping the tiring Lismore defence. Coach Ian Forbes was starting to get grumpy at this point but I think that's just because he was losing track of the try scorers!
Himbo scored again after a great scrum on halfway and quick thinking by Paddy Bree released the captain to show his pace and romp in from the 10 metre line.
PJ finished another great team try (and his hat-trick) after he was found in the corner by a wonderful looping pass from Alan Panther.
Dudge scored the final try of the day and took the smart decision not to pass to Himbo for his hat-trick - we would never have heard the end of it.

On a day when Forrester played some wonderful rugby there were also areas for improvement and they will be worked on before the visit of Earlston to the fortress next Saturday.

Man of the match contenders were in plentiful supply with Himbo performing well again, PJ showing his try scoring form and eye for a gap while Alan orchestrated play wonderfully from stand-off.

But one man stood out. His increasing years are certainly not stifling his performance level as David 'the fish' Allan performed brilliantly at scrum time as part of a pack which dominated the Lismore 8. His display of soft hands and a cracking turn of pace in the loose helped him stand out among his teammates who gave him a great ovation as he left the field with 15 minutes left. Great performance Dave.

Get down to the fortress next week to support the boys in what is sure to be a tough test against Earlston.

Final Score 101-5
