Forrester lined up with a few changes from the team that narrowly lost out the week before to St Boswells. The game got under way and it was clear early on that Forrester had a bit of a hangover from the hard game. They were still half asleep, Forrester conceded an early try with 6mins on the clock, which was converted to make it 7-0 to Inverleith.
The lead didn't last long as Forrester responded with a penalty from the boot for Fraser Newbury in the 8th min to make the score 7-3. As the half continued the Forrester team started to waken up and put together some good phases of play but always seemed to breakdown just as they started to look to threaten the Inverleith defence. As it moved closer to half time an Inverleith 8 should have saw red for a deliberate stamp on Alan Panther on the ground in open play right in front of the referee but somehow only managed to see yellow and spend 10mins in the bin, great example from their captain!
HT Inverleith 7 Forrester 3
With only one change at half time for the greens it was back to the task in hand (Podge on for Aidan). Straight from the kick off Forrester showed that they had woken up from the hangover of the previous week and meant business. In the 42min Forrester made their 2nd change of the day with C making way for Fish in the front row. Five minutes in to the half Forrester were putting pressure on Inverleith and got into their 22 with strong carries from a few of the forwards. Finally for Paddy Bree to pick up the score and bring the score to 8-7 to Forrester kicked missed by Fraser Newbury.
Some 9 minutes later Forrester managed to cross the line again this time via Graeme Dudgeon. Forrester again worked down the pitch and managed to turnover an Inverleith lineout picking up this score. Fraser Newbury slotting the kick to make it 14-7 to the greens. Inverleith were not finished though and took the chance to add another 3 point when Forrester conceded a penalty within kicking distance making the score 14-10 to Forrester with 62 min played. The gap widened again in the 67min when Forrester added another 3 points from the boot of Fraser Newbury making 17-10 to the greens.
With the game moving towards full time Inverleith number 6 saw yellow in the 73rd min after making threats to Forrester captain Garry Smith in front of the referee. Forrester took advantage of the extra man and Sean Broadfoot crossed the line with 3 mins to go and was converted by Fraser Newbury making the score 25-10
With only 3 mins left, Forrester looked for the all-important 4th try it wasn't to be and the game ended Forrester 25 Inverleith 10.
