Forrester arrived at a cracking looking Mains Park for the first game of the BT East League One campaign. There was a minute’s silence at the beginning of the match in memory of Laura Middlemass a much loved Forrester member who recently passed away.
Forrester got off to a good start with the forwards showing power in the scrums that the home side could not live with. After three scrums Forester were awarded a penalty and decided to have a shot at goal but fell short. It wasn’t long before they opened the scoring three minutes later, on the 20th minute, the visitors took the lead through another penalty.
Score 0 - 3
Forrester extended their lead nine minutes later with another penalty and Linlithgow were issued with a final warning due the rising penalty count. The greens had good control of the game with most of the territorial possession and looked good for their six-point lead.
Score 0 – 6
The home side applied some pressure and were awarded a penalty inside the visitors half which was slotted over.
Score 3 - 6
Shortly after the restart a scrum was awarded to the Greens and resulted in a Linlithgow Prop being sent for a 10 minute rest. Slightly harsh as the player in question had only recently came on to replace the starting prop but by this point they had a fair few final warnings.
The Greens couldn’t see the half out and gave away another penalty on the stroke of half time which the home side kicked to make it all square at 6-6.
HT 6 – 6
Forrester made a few changes at half time with Daniel Marr replacing Aidan Beveridge and Garry Smith replacing Euan Wardrop.
Shortly after the restart both teams were awarded penalties but both failed to convert. Fifteen minutes in to the second half Forrester applied pressure in the Linlithgow half and were awarded a penalty which was taken quick by scrum half Johnny Graham and the resulting rucks saw Paddy Bree cross the line from his standard 2 yards distance and the conversion was easily kicked.
Score 6 – 13
Forrester made another change with Euan Wardrop back on for Johnny Mac.
Five minutes later however the home side hit back after some very questionable crossing saw a player break the Forrester line and cross for a try which was converted also.
Score 13 - 13
Forrester made another change with Graeme Dudgeon replacing Robbie Douglas. The next actin was when Forrester had a scrum on their own 5 meter line which they had dominated all day but the ball popped out the back and the Linlithgow Flanker scooped up and fell over the line. Conversion added with ease.
Score 20 – 13
Forrester went on to try and fight back in to the game and made a few more changes with Johnny Mac replacing Brad Moffat and later Daniel Park Replacing Jordan Kay.
With seven minutes left Linlithgow added another penalty.
Score 23 - 13
The last few minutes of the game closed out without much to mention.
