Fans pulled out the jackets and jumpers for a cold breeze at Forrester on Saturday. The Mighty Greenies taking on a rather large Trinity team.
After KO we seen the greens attack hard and put the pressure on early with a few changes being made to the team after last week.
Early doors and Nick Priestley slotted a penalty for Forrester to take the lead 7 minutes into the game.
Forrester ran hard, gaining ground and keeping Trinity on the back foot, although their defence was solid in the middle.
A lineout to Forrester 5 metres out seen Paddy Bree give a cheeky give and take to then dive over the line in the corner for a simple try 14 minutes in. Unfortunately the conversion was missed.
Just after the restart a Trinity player was sin binned for repeated offside. The Mighty Greens took advantage of this and scored 2 tries from Nick Priestley and Garry Smith. Kicking wasn’t on today as we missed both conversions.
Trinity stepped it up a gear with their sin bin back on the park and began to play a more dominant attack. After a few phases up the park, they shipped the ball to their winger. With some fancy foot work and poor tackling from Forrester, Trinity scored their first try with the conversion to follow.
Last kick of the half seen Nick Priestley slot a penalty through the posts from almost half way. A cracking kick! A shame to say he couldn’t do the same for the conversions...
Half Time score Forrester 21 v Trinity 7
The second half began and Trinity really kicked up the gears. Attacking hard and using the offloads to keep Forrester on the back foot.
The Mighty Greenies spent most of the half defending, stealing the ball usually in their own 22 and sending Trinity back to start over again from their own half.
A turn over created a great attack from Forrester creating the gaps for Ryan Inglis to cross the line 55 minutes in. Again we missed the conversion.
A great scramble defence from Forrester prevented Trinity scoring at least 3 times and very high work rate coming from the lads.
Unfortunately Trinities persistent work enabled them to score a converted try in the last 10 minutes.
With a few more phases and a penalty given to Forrester, Neil Robertson slotted the ball between the posts for the last points of the game.
A very good shift put in from the Mighty Greenies seen them with a Bonus Point win and few things to work on at training.
Well done boys! Take that intensity and commitment into next week vs Gala YM away.
