Forrester Give Payback to the ‘Mighty Quinn’s

Forrester Give Payback to the ‘Mighty Quinn’s

Gavin Sisson7 Nov 2012 - 14:22

A bonus point win for the Mighty Greenies!

Another crisp November morning and Forrester coaches, players and supporters looked forward to a great day for rugby.

Looking to start the second half of the season with a win and to get some payback for the antics that went on down in the Borders for the first game of the season.

Forrester attacked well from the beginning of the game, keeping the Quinn’s under loads of pressure. Attack after attack came from the Greenies constantly keeping the opposition on the back foot.

All looked well for the Greenies to score first, when a stray pass landed in the arms of the Quinn’s player who ran almost the full length of the pitch with the opposition taking the first points of the game, unconverted.

Forrester put the pressure back on for another few phases when a quick turnover from Quinns seen their winger leave a fire trail behind to score a converted try.

Again Forrester kept the pressure on gaining loads of yards all the way to the Quinn’s 5 metre line where another stray pass enabled the opposition winger to play football right down the park and get over for Quinn’s 3rd score which was converted.

Alan Panther comes off a hamstring injury and Carl Trahms comes on at 12 while Stewart Fulton moves into 10.

30 minutes into the game and the Greenies were 17-0 down. SNAP, Forrester switch on, play is a lot more dominant and crucial passes are completed. Ryan Inglis touches down for the first try.

3 Minutes later and Robbie Douglas runs in for the second try to leave the half time score Forrester 10 v Quinn’s 17

Craig Williamson and Daniel Marr (both having a great game) come off to rest while Seb Costa and Ewan Cameron step on for some game time.

The second half starts and Forrester are continuing with their dominant game keeping Quinn’s on the back foot.

3 minutes in and Sean Broadfoot crosses the line.

Calum Aitkin comes off after a great shift whilst Garry Smith moves upfront and John McMillan gets stuck in about the boiler house.

John McMillan puts a great powerful run in to score Forries bonus point Try which Stewart Fulton decides to start kicking on target for the conversion.

Forrester continue to keep the pressure on and don’t offer any more mistakes to keep the Quinn’s pinned in their 22.

Quinn’s feeling pressure gave away 3 penalties throughout the last 20 minutes which Stewart Fulton kicks all of them over.

3 mistakes cost the Greenies 3 easy tries for the Quinn’s to take but with heads held high and the fight within them to keep on trying proved to be too strong for the Quinn’s in the end with Forrester taking away the 5 point win and the final score coming to Forrester 31 v Quinn’s 17.
