The Green Machine Bring Home the Win!

The Green Machine Bring Home the Win!

Gavin Sisson14 Jan 2013 - 21:30

It was a cold day playing on a soggy, heavy pitch. The Green Machine were up against Trinity Accies away.

Securing a 29-14 win at home against a physical Trinity side we knew we were in for a tough game away from home.

Early doors we could see from the sideline that it was going to be another physical game. Trinity used quick ball, moving it from sideline to sideline. The Greenies defence was solid, holding off trinity which forced errors upon them.

Forrester were clean in the rucks, securing ball and recycling well which moved the defence across the park. Unfortunately the back lines were too flat in the first 20 to cause much damage.

The Mighty Greens were dominating the scrums, driving right over the top of Trinity. A massive shift put in from the forwards. The boys were switched on, as if they were playing at the Fortress!

In the second 20 the backs soon sorted their depth and put Trinity under a lot of pressure. A solid scrum inside the opposition 22, seen Alan Panther set up Stephen Delehunt for a great Try, running tight off the fly half. 28 minutes in Dele scored the only Try of the game. Alan recovering from the tackle he received whilst setting Dele up for the score meant that Stewart Fulton stepped up to convert the Try.

Both teams continued to batter each other in defence and attack much of the play in the middle of the park. Trinity had a penalty which rattled the woodwork.

The last play of the half seen Alan Panther slot a penalty over the posts for a 10 – 0 lead to the Green Machine.

The second half had a lot of the same play from the mighty greens, keeping Trinity on their toes when we were in possession and keeping Trinity in check when defending.

Both sides has great break away phases which resulted in a scramble defence or the ball going out of play.

Trinity wrapped the woodwork again with another missed penalty.
The Might Greens put in a massive win away from home, although the score was low the rugby was fantastic.

Another effort like that away from home may see the Greenies in the Top 3 of the League

Come see Forrester take on Gala YM at home on Saturday 19th January, 2pm KO
