After last weeks narrow defeat, the boys were back at the fortress! This time taking on Lismore in an earlier kick off. With an overcast sky, a slight breeze and a firm pitch, conditions were nearly perfect. Lismore getting the game underway and a solid opening by Forrester spreading the ball across the park early on. First scrum of the afternoon and the pack showing their dominance from the start turning one over and setting the backs loose. Early penalty which Alan slotted comfortably, 3-0. Lismore coming back well and putting pressure and the Forrester line; however solid defence keeping them at bay. Good Lismore pressure leading to a penalty which was missed. Forrester taking advantage of the miss and Stookie carving the Lismores backs open and passing to Neily to coast in, conversion missed, 8-0. More solid defence keeping Lismore out and some pressure eased. Another Forrester penalty which Alan converts, 11-0. Good nudge downfield by Alan and a good chase winning the ball and setting it up allowing Paddy to crash over, conversion good 18-0. Another solid scrum crumbling the Lismore forwards and Paddy adds his second of the afternoon with a well taken try, conversion good. After some good attacking rugby and solid defence, Forrester go into half time 25-0 up.
Second half underway with a cracking kick off by Sean and the home team winning possession and shipping it out to Stookie to sidestep a couple of boys and score within 30 seconds of the restart. Alan with the conversion, 32-0. A solid scrum again, setting up the backs with Johnny wrestling the ball over for another try, conversion good, 39-0. With the Forrester attacking line too flat Lismore intercept and get 5 points on the board, 39-5. Himbo, having stepped into 12 after a couple of injuries, glided through the Lismore defence, sidestepping the full back to score under the posts, conversion good, 46-5. Another cracking line from Stookie who again unselfishly passed to Lucas to score, conversion good, 53-5. With the scrums uncontested (just as well for Lismore), there was continued good ball for the backs to spread wide and Lucas to score his second, conversion missed. 58-5. More attacking and a 'bus is full' try by Banksy, conversion missed 63-5. From the resulting kick off, Lismores 5 shouts 'my ball', only for Bev, ball in hand to shout back, 'naw it's mine'. More good rugby from the backs and this time Robbie shrugging off 4 tackles to score, conversion missed to end the game, 68-5. Cracking performance after last weeks narrow defeat. A few contenders for MOM; however it goes to Craig Morrison.
