Forrester KO with the opening few minutes resulting in some rugby tennis, Sean Broadfoot clears touch well into the opposition half. Brodie is lifted for a great steal and good pressure from the Greens. Unfortunately a miss pass is thrown into touch and Berwick take possession.

Berwick run hard and keep the greenies pinned in their own 22. Solid defence keeps them out and eventually a turnover which is sent back into Berwick’s half.

Forrester turnover Berwick again and Alan makes a great break through the defence unfortunately to offload the ball to a lazy runner.

Berwick counter attack gaining 30 yards when Stookie intercepts a pass and clears it back down the oppositions half.

After a few phases from Berwick who gained a lot of yards a penalty was given against Forrester, the tackler not releasing. Berwick take the points and open the score board at 3 – 0.

From the restart Berwick applied the pressure forcing another penalty against the Greenies for hands in the ruck. 6 – 0 Berwick.

The Greenies wake up and string together some great attacking phases, really gaining yards. A penalty against Berwick gives Forrester a chance at goal from the sideline, unfortunately Newbs misses.

Some further phases from Berwick and Nick’s quick hunter gain us a penalty for the Berwick player holding onto the ball.

Some more phases are played from both sides until a Knock on from Greens give Berwick the scrum. Jonny’s quick movements steal the ball for Stookie to punt it a few metres down the pitch.

Berwick attack hard from the lineout and push on down to the Greens 5 metre line where play is stopped and Spoogy is binned for collapsing the maul.

Fortunately Berwick don’t score and Calzo outwits his opponent which gives Forrester the penalty. This is cleared by Newbs down the park not finding touch, however Berwick return the kick too deep for a 22 drop out.

Forrester running strong and playing the phases gain many yards into the opposition 22 when Jonny tries to grubber through. This is cleared into touch by the Berwick centre.

Berwick are quick to charge back down into the greenies half and push a maul over for the score, Calzo also being carded for bringing down the maul apparently...

The score converted put Berwick 13 – 0 up

Spoogy returns to the pitch and Forrester claim the re start with a great catch from Craig Williamson.

Pushing deep into the oppositions 22, once again Forrester being their own worst enemy, a loose ball is knocked on and ends the half.

Berwick 13 – 0 Forrester

The second half kicks off and Forrester gain a penalty which Newbs kicks deep into the opposition half. The lineout is lost but is quickly turned over with a great steal from Nick P.

Some great attacking play from the greenies again only to be knocked on in the corner, things weren’t going well for the Greenies.

Berwick win their scrum for their backs to do a miss pass into touch, seems to be a popular move today.

The opposition steal the lineout and run hard into the Forrester half, some better defence keep them out but give away a penalty. Berwick take the points to increase their lead, 16 – 0.

Calzo returns to the pitch for the restart, back to 15 players.
Forrester re start and seem to be asleep as the Berwick winger catches the ball and whips through 7 players to score under the posts. A moment of weakness...?

The score converted Berwick are up 23 – 0

Another penalty is given to Forrester which Newbs kicks deep again. A great lineout see’s the greens power forward only to have a pass intercepted.

Both teams have a go at each other pushing forward into each other’s half’s.

A penalty to Forrester with a yellow card given to Berwick. Newbs finds touch in the opponents 22.

The Greenies apply the pressure with a well worked set piece to finally get over the line for Sean Broadfoot to touch down near the corner. The conversion missed.

Berwick 23 – 5 Forrester

The game restarts and both teams go at it again, a penalty given to Forrester with an extra 10 metres for Berwick’s back chat to the referee...naughty.

Unfortunately newbs kicks too deep and the ball goes dead. Back to the kick for a Berwick scrum.

A few phases later and Berwick have possession in the greenies 22, the centre cuts through the defence and under posts with a rare missed tackle from the Forrester centres.

The score converted took Berwick to 30 – 5.

Forrester really turn it on and put the pressure on Berwick who defend frantically. A high tackle from Berwick goes unpunished. Craig Williamson takes a minute to find his head that was knocked of his shoulders....

Stookie runs hard at the opposition to gain yards and put the greens on the front foot and into the opposition 22. Again the Greenies spoil it for themselves with another knock on.

Berwick clear their lines right down Stookie’s throat who has another go at them. Forrester push on working for a last minute try.

Unfortunately it was not to be with a penalty against them for hands in the ruck.

The greenies are back at the Fortress this weekend against Inverleith. Let’s get a big support down to cheer the lads on.
